FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Sword announces the worldwide launch of C2Share – a new product based on SharePointŪ that provides the comprehensive Document Control capabilities required by complex engineering projects.
Sword has over 15 years domain knowledge and experience of providing focused content management business applications for heavily regulated industries such as Engineering, Construction, Energy, Oil & Gas, Utilities, Manufacturing and Transport. It is this knowledge, plus recent market research, that has enabled Sword to identify the enhancements required to SharePoint 2007 to achieve effective Project Document Control in these industries.
One of the significant risks for an engineering project is that the final and stage deadlines are not met on time. This is often because the full set of approved documents that is required at a milestone on the project is not ready on time. Many weeks or even months can be spent generating and gaining approval for the documents that need to be completed before gaining certification, moving on to the next stage of the project or handing over the asset to the client. These delays can prove extremely costly and be particularly frustrating if the actual engineering side has been completed on time.
C2Share provides a powerful, yet simple environment for the control of documents within a project arena. It enables the Project Manager to see at a glance the status of project documentation and to spot bottlenecks and risk areas. It enables the Project Document Controller to efficiently control the flow of documents between contractors and internal staff and to effectively monitor the documents review, approval and sign off process. Delays caused by document transmittals are greatly reduced which in turn reduces project risk.
Accuracy of information is guaranteed. Because everyone works from the same base of documentation, the risk of errors being caused by the use of outdated versions is eliminated. All documents are instantly available on-line, so delays in retrieving and printing documents are also eliminated.
Information can be accessed from multiple sites, eliminating the need to create physical or electronic copies of documentation and further reducing the risk of using outdated copies.
C2Share provides a fully audited and compliant environment. This means that all documents, transmittals and document distributions are fully audited and time stamped records are kept for all actions. This makes it easy to track down the cause of changes and delays, reducing project claims and making it easy to manage potential conflicts of opinion.
Since C2Share is written within SharePoint all the new and exciting features of SharePoint 2007 are available in one seamless integrated system. Since C2Share uses the standard SharePoint user interface and integration capabilities with Office and Outlook, the training requirements to use C2Share are minimal for companies already committed to SharePoint.
C2Share is an out of the box click through installation and, with no client software to install being a web application, a new system can be up and running within minutes. A flexible licensing model means that companies can sign up for as many licences as they need on a year by year basis, which is ideal to accommodate the project phases from concept design through to commissioning and handover.
